SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team earned a 6-3 victory against the number nine ranked Trinity University Tuesday evening in San Antonio. The win improves UMHB's season record to 9-5 while the Tigers fall to 15-5.

From the outset, both sides of the field showcased its defense with a double play from each team in the first inning, keeping the game scoreless. The Tigers got on the board first with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the second. Cameron Talburt responded in the next inning with a two-run homerun scoring Carson Hagan who got on in the previous at-bat with a single to right field, making it a one-run ball game. In the fourth, Riley Bender hit a single through the left side, advancing to second on an Alejandro Sanchez III sacrifice bunt. Trae Deck III scored Bender from second on a single to knot the game at three.

UMHB took a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth. Carson Hagan started the on-base streak with his second single of the night, before Cameron Talburt got on with a bunt, advancing Hagan to second, who then made it to third on a throwing error. Talburt stole second to put two runners in scoring position before they were pushed across the plate by a Tyler Betts single down the right field line.

Scoring stalled until the top of the eighth inning when Sanchez scored Betts off a sacrifice fly, advancing Bender to third after his single and stolen base, extending the Cru's lead to 6-3. This rounded out the scoring for the game, securing the victory for the Crusaders.

Cameron Talburt led the Cru offensively going 3-5 at the plate with two RBI and a homerun. Carson Hagan and Riley Bender each added one hit, while Tyler Betts added two RBI of his own. UMHB earned six runs off 10 hits with no errors on the night.
