BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Howard Payne University in three sets 25-19, 25-13, 25-19 Saturday afternoon in Brownwood. The Cru improved to 9-7 overall and 5-2 in American Southwest Conference action while the Yellow Jackets moved to 1-12 on the season and 1-5 in league play.
Natasha Evans and Shelby Russell led the Cru with 10 kills each while Abby Voskuil added six. Shelby Prather led UMHB's offense with 32 assists as the Cru hit .229 in the match. Defensively, Russell and Jordan Yates led UMHB with 12 digs while Evans and Voskuil each added 11. Evans also led UMHB at the net, recording three solo blocks and one block assist. UMHB totaled 39 kills on 105 total attacks with 15 errors while the Yellow Jackets had 28 kills on 115 total attacks with 23 errors.
The Cru returns to action Tuesday in a 6 p.m. match at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
