SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team split matches on the final day of the Trinity University Invitational, earning a 3-0 win over Simpson College and falling 3-0 to Trinity University. The day improved UMHB to 17-10 on the season.
UMHB opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Simpson College, winning 25-19, 25-9, 25-18.
Shelby Russell led the Cru with 15 kills while
Cheyenne Dowdey and
Abby Voskuil each added seven.
Shelby Prather led the Cru with 28 assists while
Natasha Evans added five. Defensively, UMHB totaled 52 kills led by
Jordan Yates with 15 and Voskuil with 13. At the net, Dowdey led with two solo blocks and four block assists while Evans added three blocks and Russell put up two. UMHB totaled 38 kills on 98 total attacks with 15 errors while Simpson College totaled 24 kills on 109 total attacks with 26 errors.
The Cru finished the day with a 3-0 loss to Trinity University, falling 25-21, 25-17, 25-23 to the Tigers. Evans and Russell led the Cru with 10 kills followed by
Maddie Frerich with eight and Voskuil with six. Prather again led the Cru with 26 assists while UMHB hit .148 in the match. Defensively, Prather led the Cru with nine digs while Evans added seven. Dowdey again led at the line, recording two solo blocks and four block assists. UMHB totaled 36 kills on 108 total attacks with 20 errors while the Tigers had 44 kills on 94 total attacks with 10 errors.
UMHB continues play in the 2015 American Southwest Conference Volleyball Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the West Division, November 5

th on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson.
