BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Concordia Texas 3-0 Friday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 10-8 on the season and 6-2 in American Southwest Conference play while the Tornados fell to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
UMHB trailed the majority of the second half before tying the match at 16 and using a 3-2 run to gain a 19-18 advantage. The Tornados fought back, leading the match 22-21 before the Cru used a 4-1 run to take the first set 25-22. UMHB had an early lead in the second, but the Tornados fought back to tie the set at 15 before the Cru used a 10-0 run to secure the 25-15 second-set victory. The Cru took control of the third set with a 25-12 win, sealing the 3-0 sweep.
Shelby Russell led the Cru with 15 kills while
Abby Voskuil and
Natasha Evans each added seven.
Shelby Prather led the Cru with 31 assists as UMHB hit .206 in the contest. Defensively for the Cru, Voskuil led the Cru with 13 digs while
Jordan Yates added 12 and Prather had 11.
Maddie Frerich and
Cheyenne Dowdey led the Cru's defense at the net, combining for five solo blocks and six block assists. UMHB totaled 38 kills on 107 total attacks with 16 errors while the Tornados had 20 kills on 122 total attacks with 25 errors.

th in a 6 p.m. match against Hardin-Simmons University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
