AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell 3-2 to Concordia University Texas Friday evening in Austin, losing 20-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 11-15 to the Tornados. The loss dropped the Cru to 3-6 on the season and 0-1 in American Southwest Conference play while the Tornados improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in league action.
Shelby Russell led the Cru with 16 kills while
Natasha Evans added 12.
Cheyenne Dowdey and
Abby Voskuil each added 10 kills, helping the Cru to a team-total 60.
Shelby Prather contributed 38 assists to UMHB's offensive front while Evans recorded a triple-double with 16 assists and 16 digs. Russell led the Cru with 26 digs, followed by Evans' 16 and Voskuil's 15. Prather and
Jordan Yates each added 14 digs as UMHB recorded 91 in the match. Dowdey also contributed defensively, recording seven blocks as UMHB totaled 12. UMHB totaled 60 kills on 191 total attacks with 28 errors while the Tornados had 62 kills on 197 total attacks and 29 errors.
