RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team split the final day of the American Southwest Conference Crossover II with a 3-0 sweep of LeTourneau University and a 3-0 loss to crossover-host U.T.-Dallas. UMHB moved to 16-6 on the day and 10-3 in ASC play.
The Cru opened the day with a 3-0 win over LeTourneau University, beating the YellowJackets 25-15, 25-21, 25-19.
Abby Voskuil and
Maddie Frerich led the Cru with 10 kills followed by
Sarah Paolini with nine.
Natasha Evans recorded 36 assists as the Cru hit .297 in the match.
Haleigh Evans and
Miranda Klein led UMHB with nine digs each while Frerich recorded a team-high six blocks. LeTourneau's Savanna Stutts led the YellowJackets seven kills. UMHB totaled 42 kills on 101 attacks with 38 assists and 41 digs. LeTourneau had 32 kills on 105 attacks with 31 assists and 39 digs.
U.T.-Dallas took the final match of the day with 25-19, 25-15, 25-23 set-wins. Frerich led the Cru with nine kills followed by Klein with eight as UMHB totaled 32 kills on 117 attacks.
Natasha Evans led UMHB with 26 assists as Klein added four. Defensively,
Natasha Evans recorded a team-high 19 digs followed by
Haleigh Evans with 10 and Klein with seven. Paolini was UMHB's leading blocker with three as the Cru recorded a team-total of five. UMHB hit .137 in the match while the Comets recorded a .263 hitting percentage led by Dylan Brinkman with 10 kills.
UMHB returns to action on Wednesday, October 19
th in a 6 p.m. match against Southwestern University and follows that with a 6 p.m. match Friday, October 21
st against West Division opponent Concordia Texas. Both games will be played at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
