Volleyball splits final day at Trinity University Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's volleyball team split its final day of regular season competition, earning a 3-1 win over Augsburg College and falling 3-1 to No. 16 Trinity. UMHB moved to 18-9 on the season and will continue play next week in the 2016 American Southwest Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament.
 
UMHB opened the day with a 25-23, 25-19, 16-25, 25-16 win over Augsburg College. Miranda Klein led the Cru with 15 kills in the match followed by Sarah Paolini with 11. Natasha Evans recorded a team-high 29 assists followed by Klein with nine. Defensively, Haleigh Evans led UMHB with 18 digs as Klein added eight and Jordan Yates had seven. UMHB totaled 43 kills on 119 total attacks for a .286 hitting percentage, adding 51 digs and nine team blocks.

Against No. 16 Trinity, UMHB fell 14-25, 25-20, 13-25, 17-25. Klein and Paolini again led the Cru with nine kills each while Natasha Evans added seven. Evans also had 25 assists with Klein adding 13. Haleigh Evans was UMHB's dig leader for the second consecutive match with 15 and Klein added four blocks at the net.  UMHB totaled 40 kills on 137 total attacks for a .146 average.


Natasha Evans represented UMHB on the Trinity University Invitational All-Tournament Team. With the 2016 ASC West Division Championship, UMHB earned hosting rights to the 2016 ASC Volleyball Championship Tournament to be played Thursday, November 3rd – Saturday, November 5th at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton. The Cru will open tournament play on Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30 p.m. and face the winner of the University of Texas at Tyler and Howard Payne University.
