AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Belhaven University Friday evening in its opening game of the American Southwest Conference Crossover I on the campus of Concordia University Texas in Austin. The win improved the Cru to 9-3 on the season while the Blazers fell to 5-7.
UMHB took the Blazers in three sets, winning 25-12, 25-18, 25-17 for the 3-0 victory.
Sarah Paolini led the Cru with 12 kills followed by
Abby Voskuil with 10. UMHB hit a total of 43 kills with 32 of those assisted by
Natasha Evans. Voskuil led the Cru with six service aces while
Natasha Evans added one. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans came up with a team-high 12 digs followed by
Natasha Evans with nine.
Maddie Frerich led UMHB's defensive efforts at the net, recording two solo blocks and four block assists. UMHB totaled 43 kills on 88 attacks for a .364 hitting percentage, adding 43 digs and 11 blocks. The Blazers had 22 kills on 89 attacks for a .056 percentage, adding 30 digs and one block.
UMHB continues play in the ASC Crossover on Saturday, September 24
th in a 12:30 p.m. match against the University of Texas at Tyler at Concordia University Texas in Austin.
