ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell 3-1 to Hardin-Simmons University Tuesday evening in Abilene. The loss dropped the Cru to 9-5 on the season and 3-2 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cowgirls improved to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Hardin-Simmons took the first two sets 25-20, 26-24 before UMHB fought back with a third-set 25-15 victory. The Cowgirls took the fourth set 25-22 to earn the 3-1 win over the Cru.
Miranda Klein led the Cru with 11 kills followed by
Abby Voskuil with 10.
Natasha Evans recorded a match-high 38 assists as UMHB hit .106 in the contest. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans led UMHB with 19 digs followed by Voskuil with 15 and
Natasha Evans with 14.
Maddie Frerich led UMHB's defensive efforts at the net, recording two solo blocks and five block assists en route to a team-total nine blocks.
UMHB continues play on Friday, September 30
th in a 6 p.m. match at Concordia University Texas in Austin.
