PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team overcame a halftime deficit to beat Louisiana College 3-1 Thursday night in Pineville. UMHB improved to 8-1 on the season and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference action with the win. Louisiana College fell to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Alvaro Riera scored for the Wildcats in the 33
rd minute, putting Louisiana College up by one. UMHB responded in the second half, scoring the equalizer in the 57
th minute before assisting
Daniel Santa's go-ahead goal in the 59
th minute.
Jason Goodin added one more goal for the Cru in the 65
th minute, giving UMHB the 3-1 win.
UMHB outshot the Wildcats 23-4 in the contest, putting 11 shots on goal. Carnes led the Cru with five shots while Santa added four. The Cru defense limited Louisiana College to just three shots on goal and one corner kick. UMHB took nine corners in the contest.
Bryce Eichhorn earned the win in the goal for UMHB, playing the full 90-minute contest with two saves and one goal allowed. Nathan Gautreaux took the loss for Louisiana College, making eight saves with three goals allowed.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 30
th in a 1:30 p.m. match at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss.
