SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team took a 1-0 win over Austin College Tuesday evening in Sherman. The win improved the Cru to 1-1 while Austin College fell to 2-1 on the season.
Goalkeeper
Bryce Eichhorn spoiled Austin College's chances to get an early lead, making a penalty-kick save in the lower left corner to preserve the scoreless tie. The game remained knotted until the 43
rd minute when a UMHB free kick ricocheted off an Austin College defender into the goal for a 1-0 UMHB lead. Neither team was able to generate a scoring offensive, giving the Cru the 1-0 victory.
Eichhorn earned the win in the goal for UMHB, recording a 90-minute shutout with seven saves and 18 shots faced. UMHB totaled 20 shots in the contest, led by
Case Carnes with six shots and
Daniel Santa with three. Joseph Khalaf took the loss for the Roos, making seven saves and allowing one goal.
The Cru returns to action on Friday, September 8th in the 2017 home opener at the Cru Soccer Fields in Belton. UMHB will kick off against Texas Lutheran University at 7 p.m.
