PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team routed Louisiana College 8-0 Saturday afternoon in Pineville.
Nick Villanueva opened with a goal for the Cru in the eighth minute, scoring off an assist from
Rolando Nieto. Nieto scored two minutes later off an assist from
Brody Conley before
Sam Wooding scored back=to-back goals in the 38
th and 40
th minutes. UMHB held a 4-0 lead through halftime and added four more goals in the second half for an 8-0 win.
Seth Neveloff scored in the 49
th minute off an assist from
Patrick Roach before the duo teamed up again when Roach scored in the 58
th minute.
Tyson Beechum added his first goal of the season in the 75
th minute before
Tyrus Lacey scored the final goal for the Cru with nine minutes remaining.
UMHB totaled 32 shots with 19 on frame.
Sam Wooding led the Cru with two shots while
Jasen Zirkel had a team-high two assists. Nieto, Conley, Roach, Neveloff,
Valente Solorzano and
Gavin George also added assists.
Dalton Lloyd earned the win in the net for the Cru, playing 74 shutout minutes. Caleb Cruz took the loss for Louisiana College, making eight saves.
UMHB improved to 9-4-1 on the season and 6-2-0 in American Southwest Conference action. The Cru returns to action on Thursday, October 24
th in a 7:30 p.m. match against Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
