Men’s Soccer routs East Texas Baptist

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team opened American Southwest Conference action with a dominating 4-0 win over East Texas Baptist University Thursday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 3-3-1 on the season while the Tigers fell to 1-2-4.

The first half played scoreless until the 39th minute when Chase Duhon scored the go-ahead goal for the Cru. Mason Crites headed over a corner kick from Sawyer Young which Duhon headed into the far-left side of the net for the score. The Cru held that lead until the 45th minute when Mason Munoz finished a cross from Peighton Raisey for a two-goal margin. UMHB totaled 14 shots in the first half and limited the Tigers to just two.

Karsen Macias opened the second half with another Crusader score, finding the back of the net off a quick pass from Ethan Dacaret. Patrick Pither entered the game in the 80th minute and scored less than four minutes later off a pass from Peighton Raisey for the 4-0 win.

Ethan Dacaret led the Cru with five shots each while Alex Bethke and Ethan Buchanan each added four. UMHB totaled 26 total shots in the game and put 16 on frame. Hayden Owens earned the win in the net for the Cru, making three saves in the shutout. UMHB's back line allowed the Tigers just three total shots.

UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 30th in a 7:30 p.m. match against LeTourneau University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
