Women’s Basketball opens three-game series in California

 CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball opened its three-game stretch in California Friday evening, falling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The loss dropped the Cru to 0-3 on the season while the Athenas improved to 2-1.
 
 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps outscored the Cru 18-7 in the first quarter, taking a substantial lead. The Athenas followed that with 26 second-quarter points to the Cru's 14, finishing the first half with a 44-21 CMS margin.
 
The Athenas limited the Cru to just seven third-quarter points, extending the gap to 62-28 and finishing the contest with a 74-45 win.
 
Katelen Brooks led the Cru with 10 points while Pierce Sheppler added nine. Amillion Fowler and Rachel Okoye each added a team-high six rebounds and two assists while Sheppler added two blocks and two steals.
 
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, November 15th in a 7 p.m. (CT) contest against University of Redlands.
