Baseball drops extra-inning game to UT Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team fell victim to an extra-inning loss to UT Dallas in a 10-inning game Thursday afternoon in Richardson. This loss moves Cru's season record to 17-11 while the Comet's improve to 24-3.
 
Shane Melick opened the game with a single to right field, advancing Carson Hagan to third. Melick stole second base, but the Cru was unable to put any runs on the board. Alejandro Sanchez III added a double in the third inning, along with another Melick single in the seventh, but the game remained scoreless through nine frames, forcing extra innings of play. The Comets earned a walk-off 1-0 win in the bottom of the 10th inning on an RBI single.
 
Shane Melick led the Cru offensively going three-for-four at the plate. Alejandro Sanchez III followed with one hit for extra bases. Kolby McBee started the game on the mound throwing a shut-out six complete innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts. Preston Blake came in for one inning of relief, giving up no hits, followed by Isaac Brann who closed the game.
 
UMHB returns to action on Friday, April 11th in a 12:00pm doubleheader at UT Dallas.
