BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team earned a pair of wins over Schreiner University Tuesday evening in Belton. The wins improved the Cru to 17-10 on the season while the Mountaineers fell to 9-23.

Schreiner took a game-one lead in the third inning but UMHB responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame.

Shane Melick drove in the final two runs in the inning, scoring Sanchez and
Cameron Talburt for a 4-1 lead.

The Cru tacked on two more runs in the fifth, scoring Sanchez off a
Riley Bender triple and Bender on a Melick single.
Easton Cline tacked on the final run for UMHB, hitting a solo home run in the sixth for the 7-1 win.

Shane Melick and
Easton Cline led the Cru with two hits each while Sanchez and Cline each added two runs. Melick led the Cru with three RBI in the contest.
Erick Roberts opened the game on the mound, pitching three innings with two hits and one run allowed.
Preston Blake earned the win, pitching two frames with one hit allowed while
Patrick Reyes closed, allowing just two hits. UMHB totaled seven runs on eight hits with one error while the Mountaineers had one run on five hits.

Schreiner opened game two with a five-run second inning. The Cru tacked on one run in the bottom of the second off a double from
Jordan Fernandez. UMHB added two more runs in the third, scoring one off a sacrifice fly from Cline and another on a solo home run from
Riley Bender.

The Mountaineers got back on top in fourth with two more runs but the Cru continued to fight back, adding two more runs in the fifth.
Carson Hagan singled to score
John Van Huis before Bender slammed a double to center, cutting the gap to two.

Bender drove in the equalizer in the seventh, scoring Van Huis and
Tyler Betts with another double.
Easton Cline ran in the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh, scoring off a wild pitch for an 8-7 Cru win.

In a night raising money for pediatric cancer and Addi's Faith Foundation, an organization in honor of Addison Faith Bender,
Riley Bender ended the game going 3-for-4 with four RBI and a solo home run. Betts added two more hits for the Cru while
Carson Hagan and
John Van Huis each added two runs.

UMHB returns to action in a four-game series at the University of Texas at Dallas. The Cru opens with a 2 p.m. contest on Thursday, April 10
th followed by a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and 1 p.m. single on Saturday. Â
